Inna TRUNOVA, Associate Professor of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Technologies of Sumy State University, and Yevhen BATALTSEV, Senior Lecturer of the Department, completed their studies at the international online summer school of the University of Liverpool, which took place from 3 to 21 July 2023.

Teachers of the department took part in Module 2 of the summer school "Sustainable Development Goals: Global Challenges. Local Actions. Achieved Outcomes" (7,5 ECTS credits), dedicated to the Sustainable Development Goals and the challenges facing humanity in the twenty-first century. The online module included topics on global challenges, the Sustainable Development Goals, and global and local solutions to achieve them.

During the course, Adam Mannis, Lecturer in Construction Management and Engineering Sustainability, Civil Engineering and Industrial Design at the University of Liverpool, introduced the school participants to ways to address the current and future environmental, social, and economic challenges. The impact and outcomes of global issues were explored using real-life examples. Upon completing the training, the participants wrote a final paper as an essay on their topic and presented their presentations.

The summer school was organized by the University of Liverpool as part of the twinning agreement.
