Department of Ecology and environmental technologies is the winner of the direction "Jean Monnet" Erasmus + by results of the competition 2022 and will implement the project "Bioenergy innovations in waste management: European experience in the economy (European experience in economy)" (BIOINWASTE - 101085172 - ERASMUS-JMO-2022-MODULE).

Associate Professor of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies Yelizaveta Chernysh is currently a visiting scientist at the T. G. Masaryk Water Research Institute in Prague (Czech Republic) in the wastewater and water treatment department.

Despite the difficult situation in the country and prolonged hostilities, we must continue active work within the project, because this knowledge will come in handy after victory!

Thus, Iryna Vaskina, PhD, Senior Lecturer, took part in the 3rd International Scientific Conference “ECOLOGICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING”, which took place on June 28 – July 1, 2022 in Poznan, Poland.

Continued cooperation between the Department of Ecology and Environmental Technology Sumy State University with the Regional Office of Water Resources in the Sumy region under activities of the scientific student association (links). Students and PhD students adopt the skills of standard methods of analysis of experimental samples from experienced laboratory workers. Based on the results of experimental studies of anaerobic digestion of poultry manure with activated sludge inoculum first general results were published in the proceedings of the ІІІ International Scientific Symposium "Sustainable Development - State and Prospects".

Associate Professor Roman Vaskin and Senior Lecturer Irina Vaskina took part in 3rd International Scientific Symposium “Sustainable development  – the state and prospects". The event was organized by Lviv Polytechnic National University, Institute of Sustainable Development named by Vyacheslav Chornovil, with the participation of the All-Ukrainian Ecological League. From January 26 to 29, 2022, plenary and sectional meetings were held in the village of Slavske on the basis of the Polytechnic-2 Training and Health Camp.

On December 12, the international webinar "Digitalization in the Water Sector" was held, organized by the KWR (Netherlands) joint research program in the Dutch and Flemish drinking water sector and Watershare. The webinar on digitalization in the water sector is the second in a series of eight webinars on "Sharing International Experiences in Water". It was attended by assistant professor of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies, Director of International Innovation and Applied Center “Aquatic Artery”, Dr. Yelizaveta Chernysh.

On 29-30 November 2021, representatives of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies Dr Yelizaveta Chernysh, PhD Iryna Ablieieva, and PhD student Viktoria Chubur participated in the 2nd MULTIDISCIPLINARY CONFERENCE FOR YOUNG RESEARCHERS "Sustainable Development Trends and Challenges under COVID-19" - it was held at the Sumy State University congress centre with financial support from the Czech Development Cooperation Agency project "Interuniversity cooperation as a tool for quality improvement in the field of environmental protection".

International Conference «Industrial Technologies and Engineering» was held on November 10-11 in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, organized at  M. Auezov South Kazakhstan State University. The panel discussion was dedicated to the memory of Academic A.S. Balabekov, the eminent scientist and mentor for many scientists working worldwide. Plyatsuk Leonid, Head of Department of Applied Ecology, Professor, Doctor of Engineering, had successful scientific cooperation, joint research works, and friendly relations with A.S. Balabekov and participated in the round table work.

November 19-20, 2021 senior lecturer of the department, Ph.D. Iryna Ablieieva, participated in An International Conference on Nurturing Innovative Technological Trends in Engineering BIOscience NITTE-BIO-2021, organized by Department of Biotechnology Engineering, NMAM Institute of Technology (Nitte, Karkala Taluk, Karnataka, India).

On November 24, an open online lecture by an invited foreign lecturer prof. Alex Enrich Prast (Linköping University, Sweden) on the topic “CH4 and N2O dynamics in the Amazon Basin” was held. The key audience was the applicants for 101 "Ecology and environmental protection" and 183 "Technologies for environmental protection" of the first and second courses. The chosen topic of the lecture ensured its interdisciplinarity in the context of the educational components "General ecology (and neoecology)", "Soil science" and "Hydrology and hydrobiology".

Under the cooperation of Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies Sumy State University with the Regional Office of Water Resources (ROWR) in the Sumy region, currently represents a branch of our department, carried out laboratory analysis of the physical and chemical composition of experimental samples on the research topics of our department with the involvement of graduate students and students of specialities 101 "Ecology" and 183 "Environmental Protection Technologies" to train standard analytical methods of analysis skills.
