Senior lecturer Iryna Vaskina completed a 3-month scientific internship at the Department of Construction and Geoengineering of the Poznan University of Natural Sciences.

The topic of the internship was devoted to climate change research and means of prevention and adaptation measures. Under the supervision of prof. Marek Urbaniak, Mrs. Iryna took part in field meteorological measurements, as well as calculations of greenhouse gas emissions by forest ecosystems (an experimental plot of a coniferous forest near the city of Poznań) and conducted analytical studies of mitigating the negative consequences of climate change for forest ecosystems and their role in partial compensation of anthropogenic emissions. Based on the research results, an analytical article "Identifying the needs, barriers and policy options for climate compatible and net-zero emissions of the post war reconstruction in Ukraine" was prepared.

Possibilities of further cooperation and joint research activities in the field of climate change research and development of adaptation measures were discussed.
