As part of the celebration of the Days of Sustainable Energy, the Department of Finance, Economy and Investment of Sumy City Council held a contest "Save energy! Stop Climate Change! ”, which was aimed to draw children's and young people's attention to the community's environmental issues, energy efficiency, and climate change.
On December 22-23, the Department of Ecology and Environmental Technologies defended the master's theses in 101 "Ecology" and 183 "Environmental Technologies" with the participation of the Chairman of the Examination Commission, Deputy Head of the Regional Office of Water Resources in Sumy Region Olena Vakarchuk.
Within the discipline "Innovative approaches to the development of environmental protection technologies" (moderator and teacher of the discipline - Doctor of Science, Associate Professor Yelizaveta Chernysh) for PhD students of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies a number of lectures and seminars were held with the involvement of foreign lecturers.
On December 10 at 17:30 an online webinar was held at the Department of Ecology and Environmental Technologies to develop cooperation with representatives of the Indian Institute. An invited guest, Vinayaka Shet, Associate Professor of the Department of Biotechnological Engineering, Institute of NMAM, NITTE, India, made a presentation on possible areas of cooperation in the scientific field.
On December 12, the international webinar "Digitalization in the Water Sector" was held, organized by the KWR (Netherlands) joint research program in the Dutch and Flemish drinking water sector and Watershare. The webinar on digitalization in the water sector is the second in a series of eight webinars on "Sharing International Experiences in Water". It was attended by assistant professor of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies, Director of International Innovation and Applied Center “Aquatic Artery”, Dr. Yelizaveta Chernysh.
Bioenergy – A critical part of the path to carbon neutrality. This event features a series of online sessions spread over two weeks between 29 November and 9 December 2021. The central theme is the role of biomass in the transition towards a carbon neutral society.
Deputy Head of the Regional Office of Water Resources (ROWR) in Sumy region of the State Agency of Water Resources of Ukraine Vakarchuk Olena Vasylivna and her colleague Head of the Department of Water Cadaster and Water Monitoring of ROWR Hrechana Anna Mykhailivna gave a lecture on “Fundamentals of toxicology and regulation of anthropogenic environmental load”. At the invitation of the Senior Lecturer of the Department Iryna Ablieieva, the specialists spoke to the undergraduate students studying in the educational programs "Ecology and Environmental Protection" and "Environmental Protection Technologies".
As part of the development of cooperation with the Slovak partner organization, director of International Innovation and Applied Center “Aquatic Artery”, associate professor at the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies, Dr. Yelizaveta Chernysh was a guest lecturer and held an online lecture on December 3, 2021 on the discipline of "Environmentalism" with prof. Magdalena Balintova external students of the first year of the bachelor's degree from the Institute of Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Technical University of Kosice (Slovakia).
On November 23-24, 2021 in the National forum "Waste management in Ukraine: legislation, economics, technology", which was held in Kiev online, took part Dr. Yelizaveta Chernysh, associate professor of our department and director of the International innovation and applied center "Aquqtic Artery". She presented a report on "International dimension of the introduction of innovative environmental protection technologies" in co-authorship with Dr. Leonid Plyatsuk, professor, head of our department, as well as foreign colleagues from Belarus, France and Slovakia.
On 29-30 November 2021, representatives of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies Dr Yelizaveta Chernysh, PhD Iryna Ablieieva, and PhD student Viktoria Chubur participated in the 2nd MULTIDISCIPLINARY CONFERENCE FOR YOUNG RESEARCHERS "Sustainable Development Trends and Challenges under COVID-19" - it was held at the Sumy State University congress centre with financial support from the Czech Development Cooperation Agency project "Interuniversity cooperation as a tool for quality improvement in the field of environmental protection".
