Students of specialties 101 "Ecology" and 183 "Environmental Protection Technologies" together with the head teachers of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Technology Sumy have taken part in a tour of the laboratories of the Regional Office of Water Resources in the Sumy region and the conference, dedicated to the International Day of Water Monitoring and open lectures of the Office staff. Representatives of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources Protection of the Sumy Regional State Administration also joined the events.
Associate Professor of Department of Ecology and Environmental Technologies, SSU, D.Sc. Yelizaveta Chernysh and PhD student of the department Viktoriia Chubur together with colleagues of the Dnipro State Agrarian and Economic University, Professor Mykola Kharitonov, Natalia Honchar, Iryna Rula, Svitlana Lemishko and Olena Zolotovska, took part in a scientific internship at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague during the week from August 30th till September 6th 2021, within the framework of Czech project "Strengthening scientific capacities and cooperation of Ukrainian universities in AgriSciences".
On June 14, the stage of submitting candidates for participation in the competitive selection of experts to the sections of the Expert Council of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine in professional fields in 2021 ended.

Landfill was burning near the village of Pustoviytivka on August 10 and 11. What is a condition of the landfills of the Sumy region today? What is the future fate of these objects? Speaker Dmytro Laznenko, Associate Professor of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies at SSU, spoke about why fires occur in landfills, what needs to change so that people are not afraid of the neighborhood with landfills and how to solve the problem of people who have nowhere to put garbage.
The Sumyzhilkomservice utility company has stated that it intends to stop accepting mixed waste at the landfill from August 9. During the week from June 29 to July 3, 2021, Associate Professor of Department of Ecology and Environmental Technologies, SSU, D.Sc. Yelizaveta Chernysh and PhD student of the department Viktoriia Chubur were on a working trip to the Dnipro State Agrarian and Economic University in the framework of the project «Fertigation of Pepper with Digestate Liquid Fraction Using Drip Irrigation and Shading Mesh» which is part of a grant program for multidisciplinary research groups from the AgriSciences platform, which included researchers from Sumy State University, Dnipro State Agrarian Economics University and the Czech Natural Science University in Prague.
On June 23, students of group TS-91 of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies of Sumy State University together with teachers went to practice. The fourth location was a specially equipped place (landfill) for solid waste disposal. Students saw the burial process and mountains of garbage. It was large-scale and informative, future specialists received a lot of useful information. Earlier, environmental students visited the Pryshib water intake of Municipal Enterprise "Miskvodokanal" of Sumy.
On June 22, the State Ecological Inspectorate in Sumy Oblast hosted a lecture for students of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies of Sumy State University.
The lecture was attended by 4th year students studying in the educational programs "Ecology" and "Environmental Protection Technologies".
On June 18, students of group TS-91 of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies of Sumy State University together with teachers Shevchenko Serhiy and Burla Oksana went to practice. The third location was selected for water intake structures of surface waters of the Pryshib water intake of Municipal Enterprise "Miskvodokanal" of Sumy.
Students got acquainted with the process of groundwater extraction, saw shore and channel water intakes, tasted water. Everything was interesting and informative, future environmentalists received a lot of useful information. Earlier, students visited the treatment facilities of Sumy and the arboretum in Trostyanets.
On June 17, students of group TS-91 of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies together with teachers Shevchenko Serhiy and Burla Oksana went to a practice in the second location - the ecological park in Trostyanets. Earlier, they visited the treatment facilities in Sumy. Students saw a large number of plants. Wonderful park, large, clean enough, there are benches and tables for relaxation. Students received useful knowledge, unforgettable impressions and emotions.
